About me
I began my professional path as a graphic designer and photographer in the international education sector, combining creative and educational experiences in a unique way. Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping numerous educational partners design and package their products and services. These endeavours have not just been commissioned projects, they have also provided invaluable learning opportunities for me.
In my work, I strive to deeply understand my collaborators and the educational programs they offer. This involves combining commercial theory with practical experience to produce compelling images, videos, and written content. The ultimate goal is to ensure that the final design achieves successful "consumption" by the target audience. Whether a project is deemed successful hinges on this consumption metric.
Photography has played a pivotal role throughout this process. Without high quality images and videos, it would be incredibly challenging to highlight the true value of an organisation and its offerings. However, despite years of practice, I realised that my understanding and approach to photography remained largely commercial. I began to question whether this approach could genuinely be called photography.
To delve deeper into the art and study of photography, I embarked on an MA Photography course at Falmouth University in May 2024. This personal website serves as a chronicle of my insights and inspirations gained from each module of the course. I aim to share these reflections with students, colleagues, photography enthusiasts, and the broader community.
I will be presenting my journey in the form of a critical research journal, which will be part of my blog, and a portfolio. Thank you for joining me on this exploration of photography beyond its commercial boundaries.
