Reflective Presentation
Overview of the Presentation
In this presentation, I explore how themes from the Positions and Practice module have influenced my photographic work. By reflecting on my past projects, particularly my focus on animal and environmental photography, I recognise the need for deeper narratives and advocacy. This realisation has been inspired by photographers like David Yarrow, who combines powerful storytelling with compelling imagery.
Building on this foundation, I discuss how insights from influential theorists such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Susan Sontag, and Roland Barthes have guided my approach. Their theories have helped me blend artistic and documentary traditions, enhancing both the visual appeal and intellectual depth of my photography.
Looking ahead, I outline my future direction, including an exciting new project - a digital interactive magazine that highlights the educational and conservation roles of modern zoos. This project, inspired by various renowned figures, aims to showcase the contributions of zoos to education, conservation, scientific research, entertainment, and psychological well-being.
Overall, this presentation demonstrates my commitment to integrating research, theoretical insights, and new perspectives into my work. My goal is to create impactful, meaningful, and thought-provoking images that resonate with my audience.
